The Club requires someone with experience of website design and management to become our Webmaster. If you want to take that on, or know of someone who might want to do it, please let a committee member know.
Note that all of our routine posts are placed by club members. Therefore the Webmaster role is just routine maintenance and troubleshooting.
Committee Summary March 2019
Our onepiece uniform has been approved, and a compression top sample is being produced. Contact Mark Howard if interested.
Due to high visitor numbers at our events a committee member will be available to assist Andrew at the visitors table.
The Darlington Dash will now start at Glen Forest and go towards Darlington and back. This is primarily for safety reasons to avoid road crossings. The new course will be 5.5km and 11km.
Due to high entry numbers we expect to make a surplus on the State Champs. The committee have approved purchase of a second windgauge and a lapcounter/bell.
Please note that photos by Vic Waters from Sunday morning runs including the latest Joondalup Run are available for viewing in the “Photo Gallery” under the “Road” menu tab above.
Also Graeme Dahl’s photos from Joondalup are also now available at the following link:
As always please be wary of supplying personal information online.
Vale Les Beckham
Sadly one of MAWA’s amazing life members has passed away on 1 March aged 84 yrs
Joining MAWA in 2003 and awarded life membership in 2014 Les was the tireless and dedicated master of our long/triple jump pits for over a decade and worked as a jumps official for our MAWA and AMA Championships. As a non-competitor he selflessly volunteered and committed his time to the club and our athletes for which he will be long remembered.
Members are welcome to attend the funeral service which will be held at the West Chapel Pinnaroo, Whitfords Ave Padbury on:
Monday 11 March at 3pm

Bunbury Gift stars
A number of our Masters athletes competed in the WesTrac Bunbury Geographe Gift over the long weekend – well done to Colin Smith and all those who got places in the heats or finals, including Glenn Ross, Sharon Davis and Garry Hastie.

Congratulations to Lyn Ventris who was crowned winner of the 2018 AJ Buswell South Western Times Sports Star of the Year award last Wednesday night in Bunbury.
Remarkably this is the 4th time Lyn has won this award and follows her W60 World Record breaking performances last year in the 5k and 10k walks along with many gold medals after a hard-fought comeback from injury.
