Congratulations to our outstanding athletes for their nomination for an AMA Award as Best Athlete for 2024.

Sprints/Hurdles: Jenn Parker. Magnificent year for Jenn with State records in long and short hurdles and only just missing a medal in the World Championships

Middle/Steeple: Marg Saunders. Australian records in 800m/1000m early in the year. Then Gold in the WMA steeplechase in Gothenburg followed by Silver in the 800m and Bronze in the 1500m

Distance. Claudia Seke. A brilliant 10,000m State Record in February

Jumps: Melissa Foster. So consistent over the years, MAWA’s John Gilmour Trophy winner finally got a Long Jump World Record in February. She won Silver in both horizontal jumps in Gothenburg. We are delighted that Melissa is coming back to live in WA.

Throws. Jo Peters. What a year for Jo. The Royce Foley Trophy in Hobart, numerous Australian and State Records, plus great results at the WMA Champs in Gothenburg

Walks: Melissa Lewis. Top of the World in Gothenburg we were all delighted with Melissa’s Gold in the 20k walk. Add to that State Records in the 5000m, 10k and 20k walks.

Multis: Sue Coate What an athlete, pioneering the Women’s decathlon

Best female: Jenn Parker. A true all rounder, Jenn has re-written the W55 State records in hurdles, jumps and throws
