A very exciting 2018 Patron’s Trophy concluded last week.
In the women’s event Gillian Young increased her 2017 total by over 50 points to overhaul last year’s winner Sue Coate. Jenn Parker just pipped Janne Wells to 3rd place.
The men’s event was thrown wide open by the absence of David Carr. It was neck and neck all the way through, with Campbell Till just beating Colin Smith by 6 points. Great effort by Ian Hannaby to secure 3rd spot, but an extra special mention must go to Ossi Igel in 4th place. Although we have changed the rules to make it easier for field event specialists to be competitive, it is still very difficult for pure throwers to do well. But Ossi took on the challenge and showed it can be done.
