Masters Athletics and the WA Race-walking fraternity will be saddened to hear of the death of Sylvia Byers (1934-2026). In recent years, Sylvia had been a regular participant in the Tuesday evening Masters session at WAAS. Sylvia always enjoyed her race-walking participation to the fullest and always with her trademark smile. Her many and varied talents as an Educator, Author, Rotarian and perhaps most amazingly as an Aviator, were uncovered in her 2017 Athlete Profile. She passed away in Albany surrounded by her loving family and cared for by the staff at Albany Hospice.
